Garry (Invergarry)

Lower beats


A short but very beautiful river, just three and half miles from Loch Oich to Loch Garry, there are 24 named pools that look very fishable. Best months are April and May and with the exception of August the quietest month the fishing is consistent from January to October.

There are boats available for fishing on Loch Oich.

Girvan

Clunie water as it rushes to meet the Dee above Breamar

A very productive river with some 1500 salmon recorded each year. The river enters the sea just south of Ayr after flowing 23 miles from Loch Doon. Like other Ayrshire rivers the Girvan is primarily a back end river with the best of the fishing in September and October.

Blairquhan Fishing near Maybole


The estate has 5 miles of some of the most attractive (and rugged) fishing water on this spate river which includes 29 named pools allowing double bank fishing on all but the last three pools. Fishing is fly only (worm during a spate at the ghillies discretion) They recommend an 11ft rod as the river is not big but some of the fish are. Best August to October call 01655 770239.

Carrick Angling Club


Established in 1894 Carrick AC offers day and week tickets for fishing on this improving river for salmon, sea trout and brown trout.

The club have a number of beats:

Bargany Beat extending from Nobles Bridge in Girvan to Drumrannie Burn south bank only.

Lower Enoch Beat extending from Drumrannie Burn to Enoch farm bridge south bank and Cochranes Point Pipe to Enoch farm bridge north bank.

Camreggan Beat extends from Killoup Burn to Penwhapple Burn south bank only.

River Girvan Angling Club

River Girvan AC have 1 one mile stretch of the river at Drunrannie, The  beat includes a platform allowing access to disabled angler> season and day tickets avaiable.

They also have rainbow trout fishing on Glendissaig Reservoir. The fishing also offers good access for anglers with disabilities.

Glass

Rivers Glass

Evanton Angling Club have 7 miles of the river Glass (Alt Graad) from Loch Glass to the sea near the Alness estuary. 2.5 miles up stream is Black Rock Gorge, impassable to salmon so the fishing is restricted to the lower river. Best in the summer months.

The club also has fishing on Loch Glass a large loch over 4 miles long and 300 plus feet deep. They also have 2 boats on Loch Bad a Bhathaich.

Glenmuir River

The club has fishing for salmon, sea trout and brown trout on 2.5 miles of the Glenmuir River and 4 miles on the Lugar from the junction with the Glenmuir.

New Cumnock and District Angling Association operates Borlands Trout Fishery. Located a few miles out of New Commnock by the A76 half way between Cumnock and New Cumnock the fishery has rainbows, browns and tigers.

Goil

Fishing for salmon and wild brown trout available on the the river Goil in Argyll from Hells Glen Bridge to the the mouth of the river , a spate river with 30 named pools best June to October.

Gour

The river Gour is an improving west coast river on the south side of Ardnachuchan Peninsula. Cross the bridge at Ballachulish on the A82 to Corran and take the ferry across Loch Linnhe, pick up a permit in Ardgour then head down the loch for a couple of miles and you are there.

Plenty of brownies and salmon and sea trout, look out for a spate.

Bridge of Weir AC


One of the oldest clubs established in 1874 BOWAC has fishing on the upper river Gryfe, some excellent trout water. All salmon and sea trout to be returned and only fin clipped stockies can be taken (1 per day). There are 8 named pools: Meetings Pool, Roman Bridge, Powmillan Pool, Powmillan Burn, Kennedys Pool, Chestnut Pool, Gottar Water, Weir Linn.

Paisley and Abercorn AC have extensive fishing on the rivers Gryffe (Black Cart) and the Cart. Fishing 14 beats for salmon, sea trout, brown trout and grayling.

Now a Cat 2 river for salmon it is amazing how these rivers have bouced back after decades of abuse. I also note that they warn of the danger of losing your car in a controlled explosion if parked too near the Territorial Army base close to beat 5 (I'm sure they are joking?)
