Auchinfin Trout and Coarse Fishery

Located near Auldhouse near East Kilbride, Auchenfin is an exciting new fishery project consisting of two 4 acre streams fed ponds. The fishery was set up to provide affordable fishing for the local community and visitors from further afield. They have facilities designed to make the fishery acccessible to people with mental and physical disabilities and are supportive to youngsters.

The is a trout ponds and a coarse fishing pond.

The Trout Pond allows fly and bait fishing, all hooks to be barbless. Stocked with a variety of types of trout including browns and rainbows, blues, golds, tigers, brook trout and grayling. Browns, brook and grayling are C & R only.

The Coarse fishery also has a good variety of fish including roach and rudd, common, crucian, ghost and grass carp as well as kois. There also golden tench, orfe, chub, stillwater barbel and bream

Open Mon to Thurs 9 til 5 and 8.30 to 5 Fri, Sat, Sun, the fishery opens a little later, 7pm in the summer. For trout there are catch and release and catch and take options at affordable prices. Both the coarse pond and trout pond offer a concession price to under 16yos, over 65s, students, members of the emergency and armed services.

There is a fishing hut which is fully accessible and a tackle and bait shop on site.

Avon Trout Fishery


Near Longriggend, Avon Trout Fishery consists of 2 ponds one of about 1.2 acres stocked with rainbows, brownie, tigers, goldens and blues. They even stock Arctic Char appropriate for this moorland fishery which has great views across central Scotland being 600 feet above sea level.

The other pond is about 1.1 acres equally well stocked (no char). Fly and baiting fishing allowed.

Banton Loch


A Kilsyth Fish Protection Association fishery offers fly and bait fishing for rainbows and brown trout.. Stock twice a year in March and July.

Newmills Trout Fishery


Located just outside Lanark. Newmills has 5 trout ponds mostly rainbows but there are brown trout, ranging from from 1lbs to 20lbs.

They also have a pond stocked with coarse fish including carp, tench, rudd and roach.

The is a large tackle shop and they have their own fish hatchery.

Quarter Fishery


Between Hamilton and Strathhaven on the A 723 is a single 2 acre pond offering bank fishing, stocked daily with rainbows from 2 to 6lbs. Fly and bait fishing allowed.

Flies: Fritzs, Yellow Dancer and buzzers are recommended. Good value for money venue and they offer a parent and child ticket.

The foshery is also wheelchair accessible

Tinto Trout Fishery


Near Thankerton, Biggar. two 5 acre hill lochs, Lochs Lyoch and Cleugh, holding wild brown trout to 10lbs, stocked with rainbows and blues. All brown trout fishing is catch and release, rainbows and blues can be taken on a pay per pound basis. Some of the brownies are very special.
